A practical encrypted file-storage checklist

Sensitive files deserve more than an upload button. Use this checklist to understand how a storage service protects access, handles readable content, supports retrieval, and removes data.

Before uploading

  1. Identify the sensitivity. A tax record or identity document carries more risk than a replaceable public file.
  2. Confirm encryption boundaries. Understand whether files are encrypted before storage and when decryption occurs.
  3. Understand key control. Ask whether the provider can independently open your protected content.
  4. Check device support. Make sure the file can be retrieved on the phone, tablet, or computer you expect to use.
  5. Review size and format limits. A successful upload is not useful if the format cannot later be viewed or exported.

After uploading

Retrieve the file immediately and verify that its name, size, and contents are correct. If the original file is important, keep an appropriate independent backup until you have tested the full retrieval path. Encryption does not replace backup planning.

Deletion and account lifecycle

Look for an explicit delete control and understand whether deleting a displayed record also removes the stored encrypted object. You should also know what happens when a subscription ends or an account is deleted. A clear lifecycle is as important as a secure upload.

How SVaultAI approaches private files

SVaultAI keeps files as a distinct encrypted record type inside your vault. Supported files can be saved, retrieved, viewed, and deleted from supported platforms while the account remains protected by your vault credentials and user-controlled cryptographic access.
